Authority of Ash — The First Ruleset
One world. Two ways to enter it. The Authority of Ash Game challenges players to choose their own path as they explore this realm. Authority of Ash is not just a mystery table top game, it’s also a game of timing, inventiveness, power, political influence, balance, puzzles, and of course combat.
Game 1 launches alongside Book 1.
It exists within the same city and operates under the same pressure. The Ash Game narrative inspires its core design and authority.
The game focuses on:
- Investigation
- Containment
- Decision-making under uncertainty
- Consequence
- Timing and Inventiveness
- Political Sway
- Equilibrium
Players operate within the established ecosystem of Artifacts, Enhancers and organizational structures introduced in Book 1. The rules grow with the books—carefully and intentionally.
In this way, the Authority of Ash Game system evolves with every new release.
No future mechanics will be released ahead of their narrative foundation.
Design Principles
Measured Growth
New rules arrive alongside new books. The world will not outpace itself. Notably, the Authority of Ash Game reflects this by pacing its design in tandem with narrative development.

Actions create shifts. Shifts create instability. Stability must be maintained.

Information shapes play. It does not guarantee safety. Similarly, the Ash Game and its authority require players to interpret events carefully.
